NEW DURAMAX TURBO-DIESEL FOR 2020 GMC SIERRA 1500
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 is getting an all-new Duramax® engine, a 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel inline-six, so drivers can enjoy all the power and efficiency that comes with it. Here’s what you should know about it.
POWER
The Duramax® turbo-diesel option has a best-in-class horsepower rating of 277, as well as a mind-blowing 460 lb-ft of torque. That amount of power is what allows the diesel engine to carry a max payload of 1,830 pounds and tow up to an incredible 9,100 pounds when properly equipped. Drivers of the Sierra 1500 won’t have to leave anything behind the next time they load up their pickup thanks to the Duramax® engine.
EFFICIENCY
Everything about the Duramax® turbo-diesel engine has been engineered to optimize fuel economy. The engine is rated at 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, with a combined rating of 26 mpg.* When equipped with four-wheel drive, this rating drops slightly, produces even better traction and control. Its lightweight aluminum alloy construction and Active Thermal Management contribute to its efficiency, too.
NEW TRANSMISSION
A new engine like the Duramax® Turbo-Diesel deserves an all-new transmission, too. Drivers who opt for the diesel engine will also get a 10-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was designed to work with the engine in the unique Tow/Haul Mode to reduce brake pad wear and give drivers more control over their cargo. The 10-speed transmission also shifts smoothly without any jerks or stalls, allowing drivers to tow in confidence and comfort.
Diesel engines are a big hit among pickup truck enthusiasts because of their incredible capability and fuel economy. See why you’ll love a diesel engine when you visit Sterling Buick GMC for the 2020 Sierra truck.
